Human Computer Interactions (HCI)
term was popularized by Card Moran and Newell in 1983 with their book “The Psychology of Human – Computer Interaction”. But was first known in use in 1975, to mean the open -ended dialogue between the user and the computer. Often seen as the middle of computer science and behavioral sciences as well as design and a few other fields of study. It draws from supporting knowledge on both the machine and the human side.
Machine side: techniques in computer graphics, OSs, programming languages and other development environments
Human side: communications, graphics/industrial design , linguistics, sciences psychology and human factors
badly designed Human machine interfaces can lead to many unexpected problems and therefore have to go through a vigorous design process & methods. Also depending on what field of subject it is for that would play a big part in its perceptual principles
